Hours of Operation - Sunday Sales - Ward 1 Restrictions - Location Regulations Display of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Sign - Security Requirement

Hours for Sales - Consumption:
The sale, giving, trading or otherwise engaging in the dispensing of any alcoholic beverage (high or low) for public consumption by any person, firm or corporation licensed to sell alcoholic beverages at retail in the unincorporated areas of Avoyelles Parish is prohibited between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. daily.

It shall be unlawful for any houses of public entertainment to permit the consumption of alcoholic beverages at their establishment or place of business in the unincorporated areas of Avoyelles Parish between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. daily.

Closing hours:
All saloons, bars and lounges within the unincorporated areas of Avoyelles Parish shall be closed between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. daily. All customers shall vacate the premises no later than 2:30 a.m. Employees may remain on the closed premises for a reasonable time after 2:30 a.m. to perform closing duties associated with the operation of the business but in no event shall any person be on the premises after 3:30 a.m. daily.

WARD 1--Restrictions:
The business of manufacturing, producing, rectifying, distilling, blending, using, storing, distributing and selling of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in Ward 1, Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana.

Location Regulations:
The sale of alcoholic beverages of high alcohol content within 500 feet and the sale of alcoholic beverages of low alcoholic content within 300 feet of any church, synagogue, public library, school, playground, full time day care center or a correctional facility housing inmates (including but not limited to a halfway house) outside the corporate limits of municipalities in Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana, is prohibited.

Display of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Sign:
Each person holding a Class A license shall post and display in a conspicuous place on each licensed premises a sign which shall clearly read as follows: "WARNING: Drinking alcoholic beverages during pregnancy may cause severe physical or mental birth defects."

Security Requirement:
Any establishment holding a Class A Permit (high or low) located within the unincorporated areas of Avoyelles Parish shall provide a minimum of 1 Certified Security Guard on their premises during the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, or until all patrons have vacated the premises, whichever is later.

Legal Hours of Operation -Sunday Sales-Location Regulations – Possession of Firearm on Premises of Alcoholic Beverage Outlet

Hours of Sales:

It shall be unlawful for the owner or operator of any business establishment owning a Class B retail liquor permit from the State of Louisiana, permitting the sale of package liquor, to sell alcoholic beverages (low alcohol content) from the establishment from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. of each day.

Location Regulations:

It shall be unlawful for any premises to sell beverages of high and low alcoholic content within 300 feet or less of a public playground, or a building used exclusively as a church or synagogue, public library, school or full-time day care center, or correctional facility housing inmates, including but not limited to a halfway house.

Possession of Firearm on Premises of Alcoholic Beverage Outlet:

It shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally possess a firearm while on the premises of any commercial establishment in which alcoholic beverages of either high or low alcoholic content are sold in individual servings for consumption on the premises, whether or not such sales are a primary or incidental purpose of the business of the establishment. This section shall not apply to the owner or lessee of an alcoholic beverage outlet, or to an employee of such owner or lessee, or to a law enforcement officer or other person vested with law enforcement authority acting in the performance of his official duties.

Legal Hours of Operation - Location Regulations

Hours of Operation:

No owners or operators of bars, saloons having liquor or other establishments having liquor or beer permits and/or other persons, firms or corporations engaged in such businesses shall open such businesses or permit these businesses to remain open after 12:30 a.m. of every day of the week, and shall not open such places until 5:00 a.m., except that on Fridays and Saturdays such hours shall be 2:00 a.m. until 5:00 a.m. This section precludes the dispensing of alcoholic beverages during those hours.

Location Regulations:

The sale of liquor, beer, malt beverages and alcoholic beverages shall not be permitted in any place of business or in any private residence within the city in the area surrounding any church, school, library or playground, the outer limits of which shall be at a distance of 300 feet from the grounds of said church, school, library or playground, except those businesses located on East Main Street and West Main Street.
